🌻 Elwandle Sunflower Project
Cultivating Hope, Harvesting Prosperity

In 2025, the Elwandle community proudly launched a 6.5-hectare sunflower cultivation project—a bold step towards agricultural transformation, food security, and economic empowerment.
Sunflowers are more than just beautiful crops—they’re a source of cooking oil, animal feed, and income for local families. With this project, we’re planting seeds of change that will blossom into sustainable livelihoods.
💛 Why Sunflowers at Elwandle?
✅ 1. Economic Growth for Small-Scale Farmers
Sunflowers are a high-value cash crop. With minimal input costs and strong market demand, local farmers stand to generate real income from every hectare cultivated.
✅ 2. Food & Nutritional Security
Sunflower oil is a staple in many homes. By producing it locally, we reduce dependence on imports and lower the cost of living for our communities.
✅ 3. Job Creation & Skills Development
From land preparation to harvest, this project engages local labor, offering training, temporary jobs, and practical experience in commercial farming.
✅ 4. Soil Health & Sustainability
Sunflowers improve soil structure and support crop rotation, making them a key component of climate-smart agriculture. Their deep roots help retain moisture and support future planting cycles.
🌻 A Bright Future Grows at Elwandle
